Satellite Broadcast on Epidemiology and Prevention of
Vaccine-Preventable Diseases
Epidemiology and Prevention of Vaccine-Preventable Diseases,
a live satellite broadcast, will be held April 9, 16, 23, and 30,
1998, from noon to 3:30 p.m. eastern daylight time. Cosponsors are
CDC and the Public Health Training Network. This broadcast is
designed for physicians (particularly pediatricians and family
practice specialists), nurses, nurse practitioners, physician
assistants, residents, and their colleagues who either give
vaccinations or set policy in their workplace.
The program will provide information in the constantly
changing field of immunization. Session one will discuss principles
of vaccination, general recommendations on immunization, and the
Childhood Immunization Initiative; session two will cover
diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, and poliomyelitis; session three
will emphasize measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella; and session
four will focus on hepatitis B, Haemophilus influenzae type b,
influenza, and pneumococcal disease. Participants will be able to
interact with the instructors through toll-free telephone, fax, and
TTY lines. Continuing education credits for various professions
will be offered on the basis of 14 hours of instruction.
