International Course in Surveillance and Applied Epidemiology
for HIV and AIDS
CDC, the Emory University School of Public Health, the
Global Program on AIDS and the Pan American Health Organization
of the World Health Organization, the Fogarty International
Center of the National Institutes of Health, and the U.S. Agency
for International Development will cosponsor the second
International Course in Surveillance and Applied Epidemiology for
HIV and AIDS. The course will be held January 13--31, 1992, in
Atlanta.
The course is designed for public health and medical
officials from developing countries who are responsible for
monitoring HIV and AIDS in their countries. The course will
include surveillance methods for HIV infection; notification
systems for AIDS reporting; and basic epidemiology skills for
investigating risk factors and unusual occurrences of HIV
infection and disease and for monitoring and evaluating
surveillance and intervention programs.
The deadline for application is July 15, 1991. Course
announcement and application forms are available from Department
