CDC supports laboratory testing and research to help identify and prevent dengue.
Dengue cases have risen at an alarming rate in recent years. In 2023, there were more than 5 million cases reported from 80 countries, with at least 23 countries reporting dengue outbreaks. That number has more than doubled in 2024 so far, and a major outbreak is occurring in the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico.
CDC is providing assistance to public health partners, helping those agencies investigate outbreaks, plan mosquito control programs, and support research and training to prevent and respond to mosquito-borne diseases.
