This new name reflects the addition of more post-acute sectors (i.e. inpatient rehabilitation facilities and long-term care hospitals), while keeping the same sectors that have been in the study since it launched in 2012 (adult day services centers, assisted living and similar residential care communities, home health agencies, hospices, and nursing homes). The information NCHS plans to collect about adult day services centers and participants and residential care communities and residents will not change. Please contact us at ltcsbfeedback@cdc.gov with your questions about this exciting change.NPALS monitors trends in the supply, provision, and use of the major sectors of paid, regulated long-term care services. NPALS uses survey data on the residential care community and adult day services sectors, and administrative data on the home health, nursing home, hospice, inpatient rehabilitation, and long-term care hospital sectors. The vision for NPALS is to offer reliable, accurate, relevant and timely national and state statistical information to support and inform post-acute and long-term care services policy, research and practice. What's New* Telemedicine Use During the COVID-19 Pandemic by Office-based Physicians and Long-term Care Providers [PDF – 370 KB] (9/18/2024)* Overview of Post-acute and Long-term Care Providers and Services Users in the United States, 2020 [PDF – 522 KB] (8/27/2024)* Residential Care Community Resident Characteristics: United States, 2022 (8/7/2024)* Adult Day Services Center Participant Characteristics: United States, 2022 (7/23/2024)* Infection Control Policies and Practices in Residential Care Communities by Selected Organizational and Geographic Characteristics: United States, 2020 [PDF – 354 KB] (2/22/2024)* Alzheimer Disease or Other Dementias in Adult Day Services Centers, 2020 [PDF 356 KB] (1/25/2024)* 2022 Survey Methodology for the Adult Day Services Center and Residential Care Community Components [PDF – 275 KB] (1/2024)* UPDATED: Biennial Overview of Post-acute and Long-term Care in the United States: Data from the 2020 National Post-acute and Long-term Care Study (10/2023)* Biennial Overview of Post-acute and Long-term Care in the United States: Data from the 2020 National Post-acute and Long-term Care Study (6/2023)* End-Of-Life Care Planning and Bereavement Practices Among Adult Day Services Centers, 2018 (3/2023)* Variation in Residential Care Community Resident Characteristics, by Size of Community: United States, 2020 (12/2022)* Variation in Adult Day Services Center Participant Characteristics by Center Ownership: United States, 2020 (12/2022)MoreLast Reviewed: September 18, 2024Source: National Center for Health Statistics* Syndicate* About CDC* Contact Us* 800-232-4636Facebook Twitter Instagram LinkedIn Youtube Pinterest SnapchatFacebook Twitter Instagram LinkedIn Youtube Pinterest Snapchat RSS* CONTACT CDCContact UsCall 800-232-4636Email Us* ABOUT CDC+ About CDC+ Jobs+ Funding* POLICIES+ Accessibility+ External Links+ Privacy+ Policies+ Web Policies+ No Fear Act+ FOIA+ OIG+ No Fear Act+ Nondiscrimination+ Vulnerability Disclosure Policy+ CDC Archive+ Public Health Publications+ HHS.gov+ USA.gov* CONNECT WITH US+ Youtube+ Snapchat* LANGUAGES+ Español+ 繁體中文+ Tiếng Việt+ 한국어+ Tagalog+ Русский+ العربية+ Kreyòl Ayisyen+ Français+ Polski+ Português+ Italiano+ Deutsch+ 日本語+ فارسی+ English* U.S. Department of Health & Human Services* Accessibility* External Links* Privacy* Policies* Web Policies* FOIA* OIG* No Fear Act* FOIA* Nondiscrimination* OIG* Vulnerability Disclosure Policy* CDC Archive* Public Health Publications* HHS.gov* USA.govContent Credential×This image was edited or created using GenAI (generative artificial intelligence). Our experts review all images in an effort to ensure accuracy and quality before use.Learn more about CDC's usage of GenAI.
